Envoys from the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany have met in London. This, amid growing international tension over Iran's nuclear ambitions. The six countries have agreed to work on a new resolution to put more pressure on Tehran.

Senior officials from Britain, the US, France, Germany, Russia and China met in London on Monday to discuss the possibility of imposing incremental restrictions on trade and arms for Iran.

Although the meeting ended without reaching any concrete measures, the group says it remains committed to a diplomatic solution on Iran's nuclear issue.

The sentiment was echoed by White House press secretary, Tony Snow who cited the DPRK as an example where concerted diplomatic activity resulted in a government returning to international talks. And he gave his warning to Iran.

Tony Snow, said, "The United States continues to work with its allies on finding ways to make it clear to the Iranians that if they continue along a path that could lead to nuclear weapons, that they're going to pay a cost, and that it's an unacceptable outcome to the international community."

The International Atomic Energy Agency released a report last Thursday, saying Iran had ignored a UN Security Council ultimatum to stop uranium enrichment. Iran's nuclear ambitions have raised international tensions again.

The West fears Iran is trying to build nuclear arms, while Tehran says it only wants to produce nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
