In Germany, the top US negotiator on the Korean Peninsular nuclear issue has met with his counterpart from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Neither side has released any specific date for follow-up talks aimed at persuading the DPRK to give up its nuclear weapons.

The US State Department says Tuesday's meeting between US Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill and chief DPRK negotiator Kim Gye Gwan in Berlin was conducted in a positive mood.

The State Department says no definite time has been set to advance negotiations but it is hoped further discussions will take place as soon as possible.
