Thailand: State of emergency to be lifted, but alert remains

Abhisit Bejjajiva, Thai Prime Minister said "There are still things to do. I insist the government will not be negligent because we have to remain vigilant."

Troops dispersed a small anti-government demonstration not far from the government building on Tuesday. About a hundred people had gathered with banners, shouting for Abhisit to resign.

Meanwhile, about 2000 protesters began to abandon their encampment on Tuesday.

They are supporters of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who are calling for Abhisit to resign and for new elections.
