Local government workers have been clearing away damaged vehicles.

The day before, buses were hijacked and burned at the height of street fighting between protesters and the army.

As the situation improves, a government spokesman hints the state of emergency declared in Bangkok and six provinces will probably be lifted in the next few days.

However, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva says operations under the state of emergency are not over yet.
