As Bangkok returns to normal it's clear that no winner has emerged from the political turmoil.

There has been unrest in Thailand since former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was removed from office in 2006.

Anti-government protests lasted more than 200 days last year and forced two prime ministers to step down. And protests have continued since the election of Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Thaksin's supporters had been gathering outside Abhisit's office since late last month, before finally storming a ASEAN related summit in Pattaya on Saturday, prompting the cancellation of all related meetings.

They began to retreat on Tuesday but analysts warn that political turmoil could have economic consequences and could also hurt Thailand's international reputation.
