In Greece a second week of anti-government demonstrations are underway which were unleashed when a policeman shot dead a teenager earlier this month.

Some 300 students pelted police with eggs outside the central police headquarters in the Greek capital, Athens, on Monday. Demonstrators held red posters emblazoned with pictures of guns.

Student Demonstrator, said, "This politics which kills children, it's not for us. It's not just about the children---the children was just the reason for the people to get out on the street. The reason is that this government and the government before, they don't care about people and they try to destroy our social and public education."

The 37-year-old policeman charged with murdering the teenager has not expressed remorse. He told investigators he fired warning shots in self-defense and the bullets ricocheted. He has now been jailed along with a colleague, pending trial.

Meanwhile, a group of 50 demonstrators protested outside a court in Athens on Monday, as four demonstrators involved in the country's anti-government protests testified inside the building.

Court sources said the four protesters testified at a hearing with charges of violence against police, possession of explosives devices and disturbing the peace.

More than 400 protesters have been detained during the unrest. But most of them have subsequently been released without charge.

More than 500 shops in Athens have been affected by the riots. And the violence has caused more than 200 million euros in damage in the capital.

Students and unions have scheduled further protests for the coming days.
