Hong Kong gov´t issues travel advice on visiting India

Special Report:   Terror attacks in Mumbai

HONG KONG, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government advised here Friday its residents to avoid unnecessary travel to India because of the latest attacks in Mumbai.

A spokesman for the Security Bureau of HKSAR government said those who are already in India should attend to their personal safety and keep themselves abreast of the situation there.

As of 11:00 a.m. (GMT 0300) Friday, the Immigration Department of Hong Kong had received 24 inquiries and four requests for assistance in relation to the situation in Mumbai, India. The requests are being followed up.

Hong Kong residents in India who need assistance may call the Hong Kong Immigration Department's 24-hour hot-line at: (852) 1868 or the Chinese Embassy and the Chinese Consulate General in India.
