"Snow Dragon" crosses equator

The "Snow Dragon", the ship carrying China's 24th expedition to Antarctica has crossed the equator as it continues its journey south.

The vessel passed by Bali island in Indonesia on Wednesday. Having experienced the temper of the sea days ago near the Philippines, the crew were enjoying the calm in the southern hemisphere with games and beer. The Snow Dragon will dock at the Fremantle port in western Australia in five days for supplies.

The vessel left Shanghai last Monday. The expedition will study the impact of climate change and continental shifts on Antarctica.
