Tong Bin has also emphasized Chang'e One is making good progress.
Tong Bin said, "During the planning stages, we arranged three possible corrections for the orbital transfers. But the command center has found everything is well under control, so we have cancelled the first correction. The cancellation will not affect the normal operation of the orbiter."
Experts say the orbiter will reach the moon's orbit at about eleven thirty a.m. next Monday. The probe will relay its first picture of the Moon in late November. It will then continue scientific exploration of the moon for a year. The Chang'e One is programmed to carry out four scientific objectives... including a three-dimensional survey of the Moon's surface and an analysis of the amount and distribution of elements on the Moon's surface.
