On the third day of the Party Congress, delegates continued their group discussions on the report delivered by Hu Jintao.

The delegates said they would apply the Scientific Outlook on Development while seeking development in their fields.

High on the agenda in Wednesday's group discussions were key aspects of Hu Jintao's Party report like thoroughly applying the scientific outlook on development, building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and improving people's livelihood.

Some delegates said the past five years had been a period of great achievements in reform and opening-up. Overall national strength had been raised considerably and people had received greater benefit.

Delegate Tian Hui said, "As an ethnic minority delegate, I have personally witnessed the economic development and great changes of people's lives in ethnic regions in recent years under the guideline of the scientific outlook on development."

The delegates vowed to strengthen efforts in structural adjustment, improving people's livelihood, promoting sustainable development, government reforms and dealing with corruption.

Delegates from other regions said Hu Jintao's Party report emphasizes issues concerning the people's lives, like education and medical care, and it embodies the Party's spirit of putting people first.

Delegate Fang Min said, "Educating the young, paying workers, treating the sick, supporting the elderly, and providing housing -- these are the people's common concerns, and therefore what the Communist Party is working on."

The delegates agreed that the next five years are a crucial period to achieve the goal of building a comprehensive well off society, which requires more efforts by the whole party.
