Standing presidium members join group discussions

Members of the Standing Committee of the Presidium have joined various delegations on the second day of the Party's 17th National Congress. In group discussions with delegates, they called on all Party members to work together to create a harmonious socialist country with Chinese characteristics.

Wen Jiabao joined in the discussions of the delegates from Sichuan Province. He noted that reforms and opening up has been the right choice for the fate and future of China. He said the making of a moderately prosperous society in a country with a population of 1.3 billion is not an easy task and may take the efforts of generations. Wen pointed out that the government will conduct its executive power transparently and openly and according to the law, which is the basic principle of government work.

Jia Qinglin took part in a discussion group with the Beijing delegation. He called on the delegates to absorb the wisdom and power from all sources to strive for the construction of a moderately prosperous society. He said Hu Jintao's keynote speech has set the direction for the development of the Party and the country. Jia also stressed the importance of cooperation with democratic parties and non-party figures.

Wu Guanzheng took part in a discussion group with the Inner Mongolian delegation. Wu and the delegate highly commended the report delivered by Hu Jintao. Wu Guanzheng stressed the importance of fighting corruption and the theory of scientific development. He said clear rules and regulations are crucial to fighting corruption. He also said effectively preventing and dealing with corruption is an important part of the executive power of the CPC.
