Chinese president arrives in Liberia

Chinese President Hu Jintao, who's in the Liberian capital of Monrovia.

Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was on hand to meet him at the airport. Hu Jintao noted the longstanding friendship between the Chinese and Liberian people.

He also said relations have developed well in recent years and that the resumption of co-operation in many areas has had a positive impact.

Hu Jintao held talks with Johnson-Sirleaf shortly after arrival. He then inaugurated a malaria prevention center, before inspecting Chinese soldiers now serving as UN peacekeeping troops in Liberia.
