| The 2005 CCTV Cup English Speaking Contest is co-sponsored by CCTV International and the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. The annual competition, held successfully since 2000, aims at arousing public interest in English learning, while showcasing the language ability and bright personalities of a group of young hopefuls. The contestants are university students from across China, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Through challenging debates and lively competitions, 23 contestants will battle their way to the final round this year. The 2005 CCTV Cup English Speaking Contest will be held in the CCTV studios from August 16th to August 19th, and will be broadcast during China鈥檚 National Day Holiday.
