Special Report:   Chinese navy 60th anniversary

China's navy has kicked off a grand maritime ceremony to mark its 60th anniversary. This comes ahead of further celebrations and a larger parade on Thursday. Earlier today, all of the invited ships and delegations from around the world reached the port of Qingdao in Shandong Province. During the anniversary celebrations, a number of exchange activities are taking place.

Qingdao port is welcoming navies from other countries as China hosts the extensive maritime parade. By Monday, 21 naval vessels from 14 countries had arrived, including the United States , Russia , Australia , Pakistan and Mexico . China hopes such event will help promote mutual trust among different navies. This message is shared by many participants.

Dean Ryschka, DAA Beijing, Australia Official, said, “The theme is harmonious seas, so I think it's a great opportunity for interaction between the Australian and the Chinese navy.”
