The 68,000 ton destroyer took three days to sail from its home port of Yokosuka in Japan to the Chinese port. The ship is equipped with a sophisticated Aegis missile defense system and has a crew of 260. The destroyer will join a US delegation led by Chief of Naval Operations, Gary Roughead, to participate in this week's celebrations to mark the founding of the PLA Navy.

Captain Charlie Williams, Commodore of the US naval task force, says the naval celebrations and fleet review will be significant in increasing transparency between international Navies.
