The newly appointed minister has rejected the current round of peace talks with the Palestinians.

They were launched by former US President George W. Bush in Annapolis, Maryland in 2007. This has angered Palestinians and raised tensions with Washington.

Avigdor Lieberman, Israel's New Foreign Minister, said, "The government of Israel never approved the Annapolis process. The government of Israel and the state of Israel never approved Annapolis. They are only inviting pressure and more wars."
