A senior Party official says the judicial bodies should exert great efforts provide support to ensure steady economic growth in China this year.

Zhou Yongkang, who is in charge of law and order, made the remarks on Wednesday during discussions with NPC deputies from the northeastern province of Heilongjiang.

Zhou said judicial authorities should strike against economic crimes and settle disputes to maintain economic order. Zhou also asked them to crack down on serious criminal offences to ensure social stability, and enforce the law fairly.

He also told the judicial authorities they should enhance the competency of judicial personnel, and strengthen anti-corruption campaigns.
