China, Colombia seek to develop ties

Visiting Chinese Vice President, Xi Jinping, and his Colombian counterpart, Francisco Santos, have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Xi Jinping is in Bogota, where he called for joint efforts to withstand the global financial crisis.

The Chinese vice president welcomed Colombia to promote cooperation through the platform of the Shanghai World Expo, scheduled for next year. Santos welcomed Chinese businesses to come to Colombia for mutually beneficial cooperation. He re-affirmed his country's adherence to the one-China policy in the Taiwan and Tibet issues. The two vice presidents signed several collaboration deals in economy, technology and finance.
