Military trials for prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay detention center have come to a stop.

Barack Obama wants a suspension in proceedings while he reviews previous strategy in prosecuting terrorists.

Judges have agreed to a 120-day suspension in the cases of a Canadian accused of killing an American soldier in Afghanistan and five men charged in the September 11 attacks.

Similar orders are expected in other cases. About 245 detainees are now being held at Guantanamo.

The facility has long been labeled by critics of the Bush administration at home and by world governments as a black eye for the US.
