ABU DHABI, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday condemned the series of terrorist attacks in India's Mumbai which killed at least 101 people, the official Emirates News Agency reported.

"The UAE, while condemning this brutal and appalling crime, affirms its complete solidarity with the government of India and standing with its side in confronting and overcoming these criminal acts," Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said in a statement.

Sheikh Abdullah also offered his sympathies to the families of the victims and the wounded and wished speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks.

Teams of gunmen stormed luxury hotels, a popular restaurant, a crowded train station and a Jewish center in Mumbai since Wednesday night, killing at least 101 people.

The gunmen also held Westerners hostage in coordinated attacks on India's commercial center. Dozens of people were still trapped or held captive Thursday, according to media reports.
