Lien Chan said the new agreements between the mainland and Taiwan were worth celebrating and would benefit both sides.

Chen Yunlin was welcomed with a warm hug from his old friend Lien Chan as he arrived at the banquet. The KMT honorary Chairman spoke highly of the new agreements reached between both sides of the Straits.

Lien Chan said, "Four deals covering direct links in air transport, shipping, postal services and food safety have been successfully signed this time. As we all know, that will benefit people on both sides of the Straits and will make economies on both sides more competitive. It's really cause for celebration!"

Lien Chan said the historic meeting marked a beautiful start to a brighter future of cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan.

Lien Chan said, "Let us put the past behind us and usher in a brand new phase of cross-straits relations and work together for the prosperity of the mainland and Taiwan!"
