Suicide attacks kills 28 in Somalia

A wave of suicide bombings have killed at least 28 people across northern Somalia.

The Ethiopian Embassy in Hargeisa city was destroyed by an explosion on Wednesday. No group has claimed responsibility.

However, Islamist insurgents fighting Somalia's interim government and its Ethiopian allies have launched attacks in recent months to coincide with international efforts to end the turmoil there.

Ali Ahmed Jama, Somali Foreign Minister, said, "They wanted to convey a message that they can reach everywhere and that they can attack. Usually they seek softer targets and it is very difficult to fight against these terrorist attacks but I think more vigilance will be needed in those cities and other cities in Somalia because of the nature of the threat that all Somalis are facing today."
