The final US presidential debate will be held in New York on Wednesday.

Focusing entirely on the economy and domestic policy, it presents a great chance for both John McCain and Barack Obama to win over undecided voters.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain unveiled new economic proposals ahead of the debate in a bid to reverse his steady slide in the opinion polls.

With the third and final debate just around the corner, polls show that Obama, the Democratic nominee, has built leads nationally and in key states, as the financial turmoil has brought the unpopular policies of Republican President George W. Bush sharply back into focus.

So the burden is now very much on McCain to try to reverse Obama's momentum.

In a speech at a community college in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, the Republican presidential candidate unveiled his new economic proposals.

John McCain, Republican Presidential Candidate, said, "On my orders, the Department of the Treasury will guarantee one hundred percent of all savings accounts for a period of six months. This will calm the understandable fears of widespread bank failure, while also restoring rational judgment to the choices of the market."
