A 65-member Russian medical team has wrapped up a two-week rescue and relief operation in quake-hit Sichuan Province in southwestern China and returned to Russia.

The team, comprising experts in surgery, internal medicine, paediatrics, neurosurgery, and psychotherapy, were in Chengdu from May 20th until their return on Tuesday evening. The medics treated over 1500 patients and performed more than a hundred operations during their stay.

They also brought medical equipment, including an electrocardiograph and an X-ray machine, along with 7 tons of medicine. The team donated the rest of the medicine to local people before leaving for home。
