President Hu meets former US President George Bush

Chinese President Hu Jintao has met with former US President George Bush at the Great Hall of the People Beijing.

Hu said he appreciates Bush's support in promoting bilateral relations.

Hu Jintao said developing healthy and stable Sino-US relations meets the common interests of both sides, and is conducive to the peace and development of Asia Pacific region and the rest of the world.

He said the two countries should respect each other and enhance dialogue to settle disputes and issues of common concern.

Bush said he's happy bilateral relations have improved and believes the current momentum will be maintained.

Bush said he's expecting to attend the Olympics this summer in Beijing. He also agreed politics should not be connected to the Games.
