Power supply and coal reserves continued to resume in China on Tuesday. The top economic planner says reserves of coal have increased significantly, equaling 12 days' supply for the country's power plants.

The average output of key mines during the past week reached 4 million tons.

Recent snow storms kept coal from reaching many major power plants and drove up demand for heating. Coal stockpiles fell to less than 3 days' worth. Electricity consumption had to be rationed in some areas.

Major coal mining companies cancelled the Spring Festival holiday and worked around the clock to increase output.

The average output of key mines during the past week reached 4 million tons.

Liu Zemin, director of Pingshuo Branch, China Coal, said, "Vehicles from disaster-hit areas can get whatever they want from our mine. We provide as much as possible."

The country's cargo transportation system has been fully mobilized to get the coal delivered.

Railway and ship networks have given complete priority for coal transportation and set records on shipment volume.

China's top economic planner has ordered coal-rich areas to re-open small mines previously shut down provided they meet safety standards.
