After more than 10 days in the dark, Chenzhou's electricity grid is still down. But the local government and residents are busy preparing for the Spring Festival.

Meanwhile, the 220-Kilovolt power line at Chenzhou's power transmission station has been connected to the Hunan grid. It is hoped that Chenzhou's own power supply will be restored soon.

In Chenjiang county, Lei Xiangrong and her husband went to the biggest supermarket in the area to shop for the Spring Festival. The supermarket has remained open thanks to its own electric generator. The counter selling pork caught the couple's eye.

Lei also bought some vegetables in the supermarket.

Lei said, "The spring onions in the market are eight yuan, but here they're only 2.8 yuan. It's much cheaper."

Lei said that the price of meat and vegetables rose sharply at the start of the snow disaster, but is now falling again. And the director of the local Price Bureau credited the government's price control measures for the change.

Zhang Bin, director of Chenzhou Price Bureau, said, "We have used our price adjustment fund to subsidize the price of people's daily necessities."

A Chenzhou resident said, "Supplies here are plentiful. Basically I can find all I want."

The disruption of power and water hasn't affected the Spring Festival atmosphere. The local government is busy repairing power facilities and providing residential areas with generators for power supply. Warm jackets, quilts and candles have also been given out to people in the stricken areas.
