President Hu Jintao spends lunar new year in Guangxi, praises soldiers´ snow relief work

In Xiapingtun village where the Zuang nationality people live, Hu Jintao was warmly welcomed by local villagers and beautiful traditional Zhuang folk songs. He wished the villagers a Happy Spring Festival.
Hu Jintao sat down to talk with a local family and asked them about their living conditions and farm productivity.
He heard that livelihoods in the area are improving.
Hu Jintao said the central government will continue strengthening policies to help farmers, especially minority groups, to make sure everyone can enjoy prosperity.

As he left, the president said he hopes that, with the Party's help, they will improve their standard of living.
Hu Jintao's words brought applause from the villagers, who sang traditional songs for the president.
Hu Jintao next visited a local hydro-electric power station. Construction began six years ago, and it is now fully operational.
Hu stepped onto the dam, asking about its functions and benefits. He praised the project, which helps prevent flooding in the city of Nanning.
Hu Jintao also visited those who have worked during the Spring Festival holiday. He encouraged them to work hard to contribute to the development of the region.
He also visited the Baise Revolutionary Memorial Hall. He laid flowers by sculptures of the late revolutionaries of the elder generation, including Deng Xiaoping.
About 20 relatives of the Red Armymen sang revolutionary songs, expressing their feelings about their loved ones.
Hu Jintao was touched by the singing and said the Chinese will not forget those who laid down their lives for the New China.
He added that 30 years ago under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping, the CPC made the decision to reform and open up and led the people through a period of great change. The president said it is important for the Chinese people to remember their history, and continue to push forward the development of China.
