Once Li Changchun, the member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee boarded the plane for Hubei, he started to learn the latest on the disaster relief work there. The Hankou Railway Station and Wuchang shuttle bus station were among the first places he visited as soon as he got to Wuhan. He asked passengers about their tickets and if they have enough food and drink. Li was pleased to hear that the two stations have done a lot to look after the passengers and that those who are sick can get free medicine. He appreciated CPC members who have been playing a leading role in relief work.

Li Changchun also visited supermarkets and storage markets to check supplies of necessities. He then went to a vegetable base in a distant suburb of Wuhan. Li Changchun stressed to organize the supply of daily necessities. Grain, vegetables and meat are especially crucial. He called on the local government to ensure the people a happy Spring Festival.
