Chief negotiators from the African Union and United Nations have met with rebels from the Sudan Liberation Army Unity faction, trying get them to join the peace process.

The SLA -Unity boycotted peace talks held in Libya last month, saying it wanted a unified rebel delegation to attend any talks.

The UN and AU commended the SLA-Unity for their unification efforts, saying any form of unification will make the tasks of the mediators easier.

The AU and UN negotiators hope to persuade the rebels to re-start peace talks in early December.
