China sets up Internet-based systems to ensure Olympics food safety

China has set up two Internet-based systems to ensure food safety during the Beijing Olympics. One is an online public information platform.
Each food item for the Olympics has a bar code that consumers can use to verify a product's authenticity. They can also check by text message or phone call.
The other system is a video network that tracks the entire production process of food enterprises, as well as customs procedures for food imports and exports. To date, over 1,200 food enterprises belong to the network.
