WATCH VIDEO

Zhu Mincai, director Beijing Aerospace Center, said, "The procedure requires a high precision of control. It could make the orbiter either crash onto the Moon or fly away if the braking is not conducted in time."

After this entrance into the moon's orbit, Chang'e One will brake another several times to slow down even more.

It is scheduled to relay the first picture of the moon in late November and will then continue scientific explorations of the moon for one year.
