Paint-ball popularity in Iran

Paint ball equipment varies depending on the type of paint ball game being played and the skill level of those playing.

Every player is required to wear a mask for protection.

There are around thirty paint ball teams professionally active in Iran and tournaments are held every year.

Currently Iran 's greatest paint ball team is Datis, which has won all tournaments held in Iran since they began in 2005, as well as many championships held in Asia .

Datis paintball team won the 2006 Taiwan International Paint ball Championship, 2006 Thailand Paint ball Asia League Series, 2006 World Cup Asia in Malaysia and 2007 Thailand Paintb all Asia League Series.

Babak Esmaeili, a top player at team Datis, believes paint ball helped him forget about his age and problems of his daily life.

Reza Badrian, the captain of team Datis, says paint ball helps him learn to control his stresses and that's why he enjoys the game.

Iran has held annual paint ball tournaments since 2001 and each year the number of participating teams is rising.

This year, there were about 30 teams in the tournament and Datis was once again the winner of the championship.

Hamid Nickpour, Vice President of Iran's paintball association, which organises the annual tournament, believes paint ball has a bright future in Iran .
