This year, there were about 30 teams in the tournament. And Datis was once again took the championship.

Hamid Nickpour, Vice President of Iran's paint ball association, which organizes the annual tournament, believes paint ball has a bright future in Iran.

Paint balling in Iran is an expensive business - costing around $15 USD per player for a two hour game.

Recently, the number of paint ball clubs has grown across the country, and thousands of young Iranians, both male and female, are joining up.

Paint ball is a high-intensity, strategic, team game. Players wear protective clothing and do battle with compressed air guns firing capsules that splatter coloured paint on impact.

Paint ball players try to use air-filled bankers, sandbags, trees, truck tires and whatever comes to hand in the battlefield in order to escape the paint ball guns.

A game of paint ball usually involves two opposing teams seeking to eliminate all of the other team's players.

Alternatively, the players can try to complete an assigned task such as retrieving a flag from enemy territory, or eliminating a specific player.

From the start the game has attracted both casual and serious players.
