President Hu´s 2nd day in Hong Kong

The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region hosted a dinner in honor of President Hu Jintao. Earlier on Saturday, President Hu Jintao, who is also the Chairman of the Central Military Commission inspected troops from the PLA Garrison in Hong Kong. He reached out to local communities to celebrate the occasion.

This is President Hu Jintao's second visit to Hong Kong in 8 years.

He sent his sincere regards and best wishes to the people of Hong Kong.

Speaking at the welcome dinner, Hu Jintao said Hong Kong has entered a new era since its return to the motherland 10 years ago.

Hong Kong's people have been able to govern their own land and manage their own business. Hu Jintao encouraged Hong Kong residents to unite for a better future for their hometown and motherland.

President Hu reiterated the importance and success of the "One Country, Two Systems" policy.

Hu said "10 year of practice has proved that the "One Country, Two Systems" policy is not only the best solution to historical problems, but also key in maintaining Hong Kong's long term prosperity and stability since its return to the motherland. It is a scientific institutional arrangement."

In his welcoming speech, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, Donald Tsang, said the region has made great progress since its return. He said all its achievements have proven that the "One Country, Two Systems" policy is good for Hong Kong.

Donald Tsang said "Hong Kong is more vibrant and prosperous than it was 10 years ago. We have maintained our status as one of the world's financial, trade and transportation centers."
