A 10th Anniversary gift: A pair of Giant Pandas

Let's take a look at how the new giant pandas couple were selected and their journey to Ocean Park.

This is the second pair of pandas presented to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The first pair was given to Hong Kong in 1999 and has received millions of visits. But the two haven't had any cubs, and the Hong Kong SAR government requested a second pair.

This time, the pandas had to be "lively, healthy and young". After rigorous physical exams, two cubs were chosen out of 15 candidates from the China Panda Protection and Research Center in Wolong, Sichuan province.

They were number 606, a naughty boy, born on August 8th, 2005, and 610, a nice girl, eight days younger.
