Chinese President Hu Jintao honors the PLA Garrison in Hong Kong

President Hu Jintao has honored the People's Liberation Army Garrison in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This came in a ceremony to celebrate the garrison's work in Hong Kong over the past decade.

More than 500 representatives from all walks of life including PLA soldiers attended that ceremony on Sunday. Officers reviewed the garrison's achievements during its 10 years in Hong Kong. They noted that the Hong Kong Garrison has done well in safeguarding Hong Kong -- under the guidance of the principle of "one country, two systems."

They also recognized the garrison for promoting a close relationship between the army and Hong Kong residents. PLA officers say that so far over 200-thousand local residents have visited the army camp.
