Hong Kong students feel pride at Great Wall

More than 1,000 students from Hong Kong climbed the Great Wall Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China. For many, it's their first visit to the Chinese mainland.
Their spirits were high as they climbed the Great Wall. Most of these teenagers from Hong Kong are visiting the mainland for the first time. To be able to touch the Great Wall makes them proud of their heritage.

Student, Hong Kong, said, "It is mind-boggling. I used to see the Great Wall in the textbook or on TV. But I am here in person now. I am very excited to experience the sacred atmosphere."
Student, Hong Kong, said, "I feel I am a real Chinese here. I am learning Putonghua very hard."
The students wasted no time getting photographs to record this valuable moment in their lifetime. And the date on the photos will be memorable for them.
