Solana to meet Iran´s top negotiator on nuclear issues

Javier Solana is hoping to persuade Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program in exchange for negotiations on economic incentives.

Solana said, "I am going to meet him on Wednesday. I am going to meet him in Turkey and I expect to begin the resumption of the talks that we left some time ago to see if we can move towards negotiation, but I cannot be more precise at this point in time."

In a related development, EU foreign ministers approved, without debate, a second round of United Nations sanctions adopted by the Security Council in March.
