In addition to legislation, another important work for China's legislature is to supervise government, court and prosecuting bodies.

In 2007, the 10th NPC Standing Committee plans to hear and deliberate nine reports made by the State Council, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The State Council will make seven reports to NPC Standing Committee this year on saving energy and protecting tube wells, safeguarding Taiwan compatriots' legitimate investment rights, overseas Chinese affairs, regulating transfer payment, the construction of new countryside, medical care system reform in urban and rural areas, food and medicine safety supervision, and establishing a system to prevent employers defaulting employees' salaries.

The Supreme People's Court will deliver a report on improving trial supervision and promoting fair justice to the NPC Standing Committee.

The Supreme People's Procuratorate will submit a report on tightening the supervision on prosecuting organs and promoting fair justice to the country's legislature.

The NPC Standing Committee will also hear and deliberate the report on 2006 financial accounts report, the report on 2006 central budget implementation and on other financial revenue and expenditure audit results, as well as the report on implementation of 2007 national economy and social development plan.

The NPC Standing Committee will examine the implementation of the revised compulsory education law, law on judges, and law on procurators.
