Cheney: Harsh words to disallow Iran to become nuclear power

US Vice President Dick Cheney has said the United States and its allies must not allow Iran to become a nuclear power.

He's also calling for raised concerns about Tehran's actions and what he calls "inflammatory" rhetoric. Cheney made the remarks in a news conference with Australian Prime Minster John Howard in Sydney.

The harsh comments came following Iran's refusal to comply with a UN deadline on uranium enrichment. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has vowed to stand up to the rest of the world, and not show weakness by acceding to the West's demand.
