Visiting Cameroon national in Beijing

The fast growth of trade between China and Cameroon has benefited many traders. Mahamat Adam, a Cameroon national, set up his own company in Beijing two years ago, and named it "Afri-caccess".

Working in downtown Beijing, Mahamat Adam doesn't feel far from home. He has a little piece of it with him in his office.

Seven years ago, Mahamat left Cameroon for China. Now he works on cementing business ties between the two countries. Since founding his company two years ago, he has expanded his business include a diverse portfolio of interests. From accessories, to machines, to investment projects, Mahamat’s experience is part of the bigger picture of Sino-Cameroon trade, which has increased by six fold in the last decade.

Mahamat Adam, chairman Cameroon National In Beijing, said, When the Chinese president visits Cameroon and several other countries, he's going to sign agreements that would make trade and investment much easier.

Mahamat's life in China is reciprocated in Cameroon by the many Chinese businessmen who now live THERE. In Duala, Cameroon's biggest city, there are now over two thousand. On the issue of how to make both friends and profits in a foreign country, Mahamat's philosophy is “to get involved”.

Mahamat Adam, chairman Cameroon National In Beijing, said, “They will judge you on what you are doing. Are you very much useful to the society? Are you doing things that are improving their lives? We succeeded in attracting some Chinese companies to invest in agriculture. That's something that's very important for the local people, because you are solving their daily problem.”

Other projects that Adam is takes an interest in include the export logs from Cameroon to China and the importing of traditional Chinese medicine to his homeland.

With Chinese leaders looking to usher in a new era for Sino-African, Mahamat has never felt more confident about the future.
