Lebanon unrest: Troops scuffle with protestors

Several hundred Lebanese troops and police have separated about 700 supporters from pro- and anti-Syrian factions in the capital Beirut.

Lebanon has been seething with tension since the assassination of a Christian Cabinet minister last week. There was no immediate word on casualties after soldiers and riot police dispersed the crowds on Monday.

Last Tuesday, Industry Minister Pierre Gemayel was the sixth in a string of killings of prominent anti-Syrian figures. It has raised fears of the country returning to the sectarian violence of the 1975-90 civil war.
