Frequent Exercises Benefit China-US Ties
Starting from 2000, the Chinese military began participating in bilateral and multilateral military exercises. So far, China has held joint search-and-rescue drills at sea with France, Britain, Pakistan, India, and Australia. But it's unprecedented for the Chinese and US navies to conduct two such drills in just two months. This underscores the huge potential of China-US ties.
The exercise involves China's guided missile destroyer "Zhanjiang", and the fuel tanker "Dongting Lake". They'll work with the US warship Juneau and the missile destroyer Fitzgerald.
Chinese analysts say China-US military cooperation is getting more practical, and further cooperation in technology and security areas may not be too far away.
