Special Report:   President Hu visits Russia

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has just arrived here in the Chinese capital. During his two-day visit, Fradkov will attend the 11th regular meeting between the prime ministers of the two countries. Later this evening, CCTV International will have a live broadcast of the two leaders attending the closing ceremony of the Year of Russia in China. Guo Liying reports.

A visit when two countries' relationship is at an all-time high. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov is in Beijing with the prospect of a bountiful harvest for the Year of Russia in China.

The one-year event has seen comprehensive cooperation in more than 200 activities held between the two countries. Moscow and Beijing have described their relations as "ever more growing into a full-scale partnership." This has raised suspicions in some quarters that a new alliance or pact is in the works.

But China and Russia are downplaying these concerns. As they wrap up the Year of Russia in China, the two countries are determined to prove to the world that there's nothing to fear from friendly neighbors who are also good strategic partners in cooperation.

Guo Liying from CCTV said, “The active diplomatic exchanges between China and Russia are seeing substantial results. While both oppose the world's division into new axes and blocs, both firmly believe their mutually-advantageous cooperation will serve national interest while becoming a major force for world peace and stability.”
