Jia Qinglin said, "Members have participated in active consultation, and raised valuable suggestions on economic and social development. These proposals have provided crucial references to and proofs of the government polices."

As China deals with the effects of the global financial crisis, economic challenges and social stability dominate discussions.

Members submitted over 5,000 proposals, most of them will be handed over to the proper government departments.

The proposals are drawn from members' experience, and the topics are range from the economy to environmental protection.

Liu Xiaobing, deputy head of CPPCC Proposal-handling Office, said, "The majority of the proposals we've received aim to ensure the stable and rapid development of the economy, and to minimize the impact of the crisis on people's livelihoods."
