Shanghai NPC deputy, Wang Enduo, said, "The most important thing is to supervise power at every level, and a good system to prevent corruption."
Jiangsu NPC deputy, Han Liming, said, "We should make the Anti-corruption Law complete to strengthen enforcement."
Anhui NPC deputy, Jin Huiqing, said, "We should expand the scope of supervision, not only from the legal bodies, but also from society and the public. "
The number of prosecutions serves as a warning to all officials against corruption. But lawmakers are calling for an emphasis on prevention through systematic supervision and enforcement.
Both reports mentioned the importance of self-supervision in legal justice. For example, the NPC should strengthen its rights of supervision, and there is also a need for more transparency to allow public scrutiny. From the sheer number of cases being released, it's evident anti-corruption efforts have been intensified. But it will take more than punishment to root out these crimes and boost public confidence.
