Victim´s traumatic experience remains an issue

The post-quake reconstruction work has been arduous. Working overtime is commonplace for all government officials, even though many of them have also lost their homes, as well as loved ones.

Liu Meng said, "Relationships are a necessary precondition  for all kinds of psychological help. Some people say they  worked here ten days and helped lots of people. In fact,  they might not have established any relationships with the  survivors, let alone provided help."

"Finally, he just couldn't put up with all of this any more. He was not able to change the world, so he changed himself."

Feng Xiang was not the first one to tragically alter his life in such an extreme way. Another Beichuan government official, Dong Yufei, committed the same desperate act about five months after the quake.

"After Dong was gone, measures were taken to take care of the exhausted people. But these measures, compared to the work to be done, are minimal."
