Liao Bangyan, a laundry owner, said, "I started the laundry business, after the quake. I had a baby. I want to work at home, so I can take care of my baby and make a living at the same time. Now business is not very satisfactory. But it's natural. And as time goes on, I think business will gradually get better."

Yu Guifu, a grocery sore owner, said, "After the quake, the government sent food to people, to the farmers. Almost every household has enough food to last until the end of the year. And my business is selling food, as you see. It's not good. So I have expanded my range of products. I sell feed for pigs, and cigarettes and alcohol. Business has picked up."

Zhu Mingfu, a Wenchuan resident, said, "After the quake, especially in 2009, the government took several measures to rebuild houses. One is to give structural support to damaged houses. And if a house is no longer useable, it will be demolished, and the residents will be moved to other places. The government will give them a house of the same size. People who are moved further away get extra subsidies."
