Shanghai's World Expo is just one year away, and the event's location is a busy construction site. All kinds of facilities and infrastructure are taking shape, with all of the work to be completed before the year's end.

As the biggest event of its kind, the 2010 World Expo will occupy the largest exhibition site in history. Stretching across the Huangpu River, the Expo Park will cover a total area of more than five square kilometers. The park will further be divided into five sections.

Pavilions for participating countries and international organizations will mainly be located in the Pudong section of the park, while corporate pavilions and the Urban Best Practice Area will be on the opposite side of the river. The pavilions will occupy a total floor space of 2.2 million square meters. erhaps the most outstanding feature of the Shanghai Expo Park is its commitment to conservation and renovation of the old buildings.
